A young man becomes convinced that he can be of added value to the army that goes to war in the American Civil War. He is after success and hopes to make a name for himself with glorious victories, but the first battle he takes part in, he begins to face reality. He notices that war is not about honor and glory, and that he also doesn't have what it takes to kill people.
