I find this a seriously difficult film to watch.
David Lama was a super nice guy, and it's absolutely tragic that he's gone. And when you watch this kind of film, it's almost impossible to avoid the feeling that the pressures of fame and the need to stay relevant to sponsors played a part in that - and that this film itself is an example of that. After all, it's not really that the film is overflowing with the joy of climbing for the sake of it; it's never quite clear whether Lama actually enjoyed it at all. According to the old proverb 'the best climber is the one who has the most fun', he doesn't stand a chance here.
Besides that, it is also a really long film despite the limited playing time of only 102 minutes. That is also absurd, with this subject and in this environment. Then you must have an enormous talent - for something else.
