The story takes place in an art school around a number of young sculptors in training. They have to make statues of old men, but they prefer to practice their skills on the naked figure of a young woman. Can I imagine something. In the corridor of the building, a couple of old men are waiting to be chosen as models and they argue all the time. That's about it. An annoying film, in which nothing actually happens, with a lot of endless chatter about nothing.

The film was made in 1968 during the Prague Spring when censorship was relaxed. You would say then they could have used the space to make a more relevant film, but no, it had to be a comedy again. In which, incidentally, I could find little funny. A naked girl, and that was of course already very special in the prudish Czechoslovakia of those years. That relative freedom for filmmakers was also quickly over.

Thanks for the tips, Baggerman, I'll definitely look into those if I can get my hands on them. Of course I saw Ekstase, a film that was far ahead of its time. On the other hand, the majority of Czechoslovak films consist of comedies. This tradition also dates from the pre-war period (Sweijk) and was cheerfully continued under the communist regime. This gave the filmmakers the opportunity to voice some criticism of society between the lines, without the censorship banning the film. They could always say, it's just comedy and there had to be something to see in the cinemas.
