Alice Walker: Beauty in Truth plot

This documentary tells the story of a woman's extraordinary journey, from her birth in a cardboard cabin in the cotton fields of Putnam County, Georgia to her recognition as one of the most important writers of the 20th century: Alice Walker. Alice Walker made history by becoming the first black woman to win the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction with her novel The Color Purple (later made into a movie by Steven Spielberg), a universal tale of triumph against all odds, not so different from Walker's own life story.
