The Wipers Times plot
When Captain Fred Roberts discovers a printing press in the ruins of Ypres in Belgium during World War I, Roberts decides to publish a satirical magazine called 'The Wipers Times'. 'Wipers' was the English name for Ypres. The 'Wipers Times' was subversive and full of gallows humor, but also very funny. Produced under enemy fire and gas attacks, the magazine proved a great success against all odds with British forces on the Western Front. A testament to the stubbornness of the human mind. Fred Roberts would later also manage to win the War Cross for Courage.
