Nice concert registration of Metallica. Between and through the songs a story unfolds about a roadie who is sent away for a job. This is fun at first, but ultimately adds little. The concert itself is worth it and there is also quite a bit of spectacle on stage which is also captured by excellent camera work. For Metallica fans an absolute must-see of course.

Have you ever wanted to attend a Metallica concert? This is your chance.

Nimród Antal and his team know exactly how to bring an experience like this to the audience. I am not a huge Metallica fan myself, but that is not a problem if you go for this experience. An experience that is very uniquely captured on film. The film (story by DeHaan) is perfectly merged with the Metallica concert. The music fits perfectly with the images. The story therefore flows very smoothly. The 3D is a real addition, although more could have been done with it to immerse you even more in the concert. And one more thing. The music is loud, very loud and gets even louder as the film progresses. I like it

During a Metallica concert, roadie Trip [Dane DeHaan] is ordered to retrieve something. Outside the concert arena, he finds himself in a world where anarchy reigns. In the meantime, the band plays a selection of greatest hits, with the notable fact that (with the exception of 'Fuel') they play nothing from after 'The Black Album' from 1991. The band is in good shape and the concert footage is a feast for the eyes, but there is no "story" and the scenes with DeHaan are often used for a fade-out. They could just as well have left that nonsense out.
