The year 2013 celebrates the 100th edition of the Tour de France. Eight times a ride ended on the legendary summit of Mont Ventoux. Five of these climbs were televised. Five stages with five winners: Eddy Merckx (1970), Jean François Bernard (1987), Marco Pantani (2000), Richard Virenque (2002) and Juan Manuel Garate (2009). In De Koning van de Mont Ventoux, cycling champions from different generations meet in one race. The fastest climber of all time is determined in a virtual competition. Given the technological developments of the bicycle, the chances of the older generations seem small. Yet the outcome remains undecided until the last kilometer. Forty years of cycling history in one breathtaking ascent where the champions look back on their careers and the evolution of the cycling competition. Which of them is ultimately the king of Mont Ventoux?
