Herman and Marie, a couple in their late fifties, head to Istanbul to pick up their late son's backpack, a painful confrontation with the recent loss of their only child. When they go through his belongings, they find the remnants of a lost life: clothes, a notebook, hotel bills, tickets and entrance tickets. Determined to recreate his son's last journey, Herman drags his wife into an unknown part of the world in an attempt to find solace.
