Ring of Fire plot
Oliver Booth's oil company wants to drill for oil near Paxton in the US state of Oregon with its state-of-the-art laser drilling technology. His daughter Emily, an avid environmentalist, wants drilling operations in the Maple Glen conservation area to end. To reach an oil well deep under the Earth's crust, the oil company obscures measurement results and manipulates computer data to drill even deeper than allowed. Emily finds out after an oil company employee leaks confidential information. With the help of geologist Matthew Cooper, they are trying to stop the drilling before liquid magma is tapped.
