De Wouter Tapes plot
The filmmakers follow PvdA party leader and prime minister candidate Wouter Bos about the parliamentary elections in 2006, which were disappointing for his party. They do not speak for themselves and do not conduct interviews. The voice-over is by Bos himself, who recorded messages during this period. We hear his personal considerations and doubts, such as just before the elections: 'I notice that my intuition is failing me.' The camera crew films Bos at all the highlights, from his candidacy as prime minister at the PvdA congress in December 2005 to the formation of the government in February 2007. We see brainstorming sessions about campaign strategy and vigorous discussions in Mercurius, Bos' critical, bimonthly club of friends. Bos allowed the videographers to film everywhere so that they could catch him making a heartfelt 'Jesus!' in the high seat forecasts for the competing SP.
