Die Welt plot
Abdallah, a young DVD salesman, tries to keep his head above water in Tunisia in a society that finds itself in a vacuum between democracy and dictatorship. It's 2011, just after the Jasmine Revolution, and jobs are barely available. His friends boast of rich Europe and boast of the successes of acquaintances in the West. But Abdallah's father, who once worked as a guest worker in the Netherlands, says otherwise. 'Die Welt', as he calls Europe, has seen better days, according to him. Abdallah's frustration with life in Tunisia grows every day, and after meeting a Dutch tourist, he too begins to dream of a future in Europe.
