Lucas Marsh is an ambitious medical student who, after learning that his father had squandered his college money on booze, married wealthy nurse Kristina Hedvigson. Kristina knows that their marriage isn't that romantic, but she still admires her hard-working husband. It is only when he begins an affair with another woman while she is pregnant that she becomes so discouraged that she leaves him. Meanwhile, Lucas has to perform heart surgery on his partner Dr. Runkleman and makes a fatal mistake...
