Das Recht auf Dasein plot

Shortly after Joseph Dermott is released from prison, he gets into trouble again. This time he is suspected of attempted murder of the young woman Edith. The police discover his hiding place and a long chase by boat and train ensues. Joseph manages to shake off the police but is injured in the process. An American psychologist finds him and takes him to his retirement home. However, Edith is also in this retirement home, who suffers from amnesia.
