Rent a Family Inc. plot

At first glance, 44-year-old Japanese Ryuichi leads a normal life. He is married, has two children and a regular job. But Ryuichi also has a secret. He is also the director of the company he founded called I want to cheer you up Ltd. None of his family has the faintest idea. The company hires people. They then play, on behalf of the client, a family member, friend or colleague. Ryuichi is one of these people herself. He plays many roles at weddings, funerals like the educated husband, father, brother or colleague. He does this at the request of his often lonely and frightened clients, who feel the need to replace these otherwise missing people in their lives in order to avoid face or status loss. Ryuichi feels happy helping others in this way, but he doesn't earn enough money from the business. His money worries, combined with the double life he leads and his shaky marriage, make life almost unbearable for him. Ryuichi must choose between truth or lies and go for what will give him the happiest life.
