Histoire(s) du Cinéma plot
Project in 8 parts, consisting of poetic collages about film, art, life and the transience that Godard assembled over many years. It is not a documentary that tells directly about film history, but Godard's vision and, in a sense, his own history; his life with, in and through cinema. Histoire(s) du Cinéma is a gigantic collage of images and sounds that together tell the story of 20th century cinema. According to Godard, modern cinema begins with Roberto Rossellini's 1945 'Roma, Città Aperta', a true resistance film, according to Godard, and one of the masterpieces of Italian neorealism.
