After his first ski film 'Wunder des Schneeschuhs' (1920), the pioneer of mountain documentaries, Arnold Fanck, prepared a new work: a battle with the mountains under the title 'Im kampf mit dem Berge' that also appeared in cinemas under the name 'Im Sturm und Eis. An Alpine symphony in Bildern'. The film was shot in October 1921 in Zermatt and documents the ascent of, among other things, the 4500 meter high Lyskamm by two very prominent skiers of the time, Hannes Schneider and Ilse Rohde.
