The Diplomatic Corpse plot
A corpse is fished out of the Thames in London harbour. But what starts as a one-line newspaper report, grows into an international affair. Crime reporter Mike blunders at first due to insufficient information, but perseveres in his search. He gets the support of his fiancée Jenny, who is responsible for the same newspaper.

Starts off nicely, with a murder mystery and a shady witness who doesn't reveal the back of his tongue, but from about the halfway mark the plot gets bogged down in the characters running back and forth between the newspaper editors, the embassy and the police station. The film floats on the loose acting of Robin Bailey (as the journalist) and the charm of Susan Shaw (as his fiancée with more brains than he), but never rises above the B-level, and the shabby ending is a bit of a letdown . Nevertheless, quite entertaining.
