Nice police thriller.

I've never really been a fan of De Niro, even in his old age I don't think he's too great, but he's not disturbing. I'm a fan of Whitaker, he doesn't immediately play the pan of the roof here, but even on autopilot he remains a great actor. Strangely enough, I usually like 50 Cent too, this movie is no exception.

Visually quite a pleasant style, although it is all quite fleeting, without really getting hyper. Falls in between a bit between two worlds, but the result is not wrong. The plot is otherwise a bit simple, with criminal police, a few twists and an ending that you can see coming from afar. You should definitely not watch this one.

But the atmosphere is quite nice. Slightly dark, a bit gritty, nice bleached look. Probably not a film that stays with you for too long or that really should reach high peaks, but I think the average here is remarkably low. I've seen a lot of worse movies in this genre.

Worthless film on all fronts. Idiotic story, bad music and mediocre action.

De Niro plays on autopilot and Whitaker doesn't play well either.

50 cents is just laughably bad. He can't act for one meter and can't get past some monotonous mumbling.

Not bad.

I've seen 50 cents act before, and I have to say that he can act better than sing. Freelancers is another police crime movie in the typical category. Could this have been a feature film or was it really a DTV topic?

Because I thought the actions and the concurrence in this film were still quite good. The typical raw settings of the New York slums in combination with a subject that could have been a plural of Training Day. 50 cent goes into training with LaRue... Played very cool by Forrest Whitaker. You can see that the charm is present in the actors. Meanwhile, we also have the white guard... led by the racist Billy Morrison. You could almost say competition; but both sides are led by Joe Sarcone. A small but typical performance by Robert deNiro, who still brings out all his old gangster traits.

The film is certainly captivating. Wonderfully cynical humor, some nice action scenes, sturdy cat and mouse games, and the grubby settings of Brooklyn. Well done for a direct to video.
