Eréndira plot
Young Eréndira lives with her tyrannical grandmother. She is a dreamer and on a windy night she forgets to put out a bunch of candles. As a result, her grandmother's house burns to the ground. The grandmother wants the girl to pay until she has returned all the amount that the house was worth. To realize this, she forces Eréndira into prostitution.
