"No woman ever survived his love!"
The criminal Stephen Recka is an art protector and a powerful politician. He rules his city, but also his beautiful Eastern mistress Madame Lan Ying, with an iron hand. Stephen then meets the humble Margaret Van Case. Margaret is unimpressed by his power and his wealth, despite having no money. Stephen makes frantic efforts to win her heart and turns away from the loyal Lan Ying.
