Het Kaf en het Koren plot
In 2011, it was world news: Bible teacher and radio host Harold Camping predicted that Judgment Day would take place on May 21. Believers would be taken up to heaven. Only documentary makers Stefan Wittekamp and Suzanne Arts have managed to penetrate this almost sectarian group. They captured the hope, fear and loneliness of three believers up close on film. This gives a unique look at the mindset of cult members Adrienne, Michael and Candace and their families. Full of tension and uncertainty they live towards the Day of Judgment. Their actions are hardly comprehensible to the 'unbelieving' outside world. A mutual feeling of incomprehension and distance is the inevitable result. And with that, the division between wheat and chaff seems to be unfolding long before the Day of Judgment arrives. How could a radio host's fundamentalist idea lead to so much confusion, desolation and harrowing alienation from society?
