Der Fluss War Einst ein Mensch plot

A young German man travels to an African country. On the bank of a river, he meets an old fisherman who is willing to take him in his wooden boat. The next morning, the man wakes up alone in the boat and finds himself in a seemingly endless delta area. Then the man begins an inner struggle with death, his fears and his perception of reality. After days of wandering, he finally arrives in a village, but his odyssey has not yet come to an end.
