Mama Africa plot
Mama Afrika is about the life of Miriam Makeba, the famous South African singer and activist. She was the voice and hope of all Africa. Makeba was the first black African musician to enjoy international fame and whose music - which has influenced artists all over the world - has always been rooted in her traditional South African roots. She also stood out for her relentless struggle against racism and poverty. She has sung for President John F. Kennedy and acting legend Marlon Brando and has performed with famous musicians including Harry Belafonte, Nina Simone and Dizzie Gillespie. This documentary highlights her life through rare footage of her performances, interviews and private footage collected over the years.
