Transfer plot
Hermann Goldbeck, 78, and his wife Anna visit the Menzana Corporation, a company that offers older people the opportunity to transfer their souls and minds into the bodies of young and healthy individuals. These bodies come from poor Africans, who voluntarily donate their bodies because their families receive a lot of money for it. Hermann and Anna do not feel good that they will later inhabit a black body. However, when Anna falls ill, Hermann decides to continue the procedure. They both wake up in their new bodies and soon they manage to adapt. The original inhabitants of the bodies, the Malian Apolain and the Ethiopian Sarah, are allowed to return to their own bodies for four hours in the evening. Soon Apolain and Sarah start a relationship, but Hermann is absolutely not happy about this. Somewhat later, Sarah even becomes pregnant, although no one knows for sure who was in control of the body at the time of conception. Soon the debate breaks out about who is actually allowed to keep the child.
