Toen Was Ik Al Beroemd plot
Joop Korzelius was once a celebrated jazz drummer, who earned tons of money and had rows of girls behind him. His most successful band was the Flamingo quintet, but he also played with Wim Sonneveld. Now, the 84-year-old has been attending what he jokingly calls the Army of Hell for years. While in the picture a contented Joop is quietly smoking between the outcasts, he tells about his performance in the Royal Palace, when Prince Bernhard was still playing a moppie. The contrast between his life then and now could hardly be greater. Just like the difference between him and the residents of the retirement home where he can get a room. They really behave like old people, while he mainly wants to wash away his hangover with an eye opener, the first beer of the day. They don't give a shit about that in the Army. So no matter how terrible his sister thinks it is that he lives there, he hasn't left the stuffy room for the time being.
