Wunschkonzert plot

During the 1936 Berlin Olympics, Inge Wagner falls for Luftwaffe Lieutenant Herbert Koch. They want to get married but he gets orders to go to Spain. He has to travel incognito, without being allowed to contact friends and family. Inge continues to wait faithfully for her beloved. After the beginning of the Second World War, the radio starts a program called "Wunschkonzert". It is a program where soldiers can make wishes. Koch requests a song that Inge will recognize. A friend of Inge, who hopes that she will marry him, accidentally ends up in the squadron of which Koch is also a member. Koch and Inge manage to arrange a meeting in a restaurant in Hamburg, but the day before the meeting, Koch and the friend are shot down during a mission. At the hospital, Koch finds out that he and the boyfriend love the same girl. Koch thinks Inge and the boyfriend are engaged and is willing to give up Inge.
