"What if you invited a serial killer on holiday?"

The handsome, charming and arrogant Tristan picks up Mandy for an exciting one-night stand. He is invited by her to take a weekend getaway to a remote area with her, her brother Calvin and his girlfriend Paige. Once there, they hear stories about a serial killer known as the "Tree Surgeon." This killer saws off his victims' body parts and hangs them in a tree. It doesn't take long for the group to find a half-dead man and it isn't long before the 'Tree Surgeon' is closer than they think.

A shame indeed. Sounded promising, but the effect was disappointing. After about 40 minutes I realized that nothing interesting had actually happened and that it was all moving along quite slowly. My sister, who by the way looks a lot like Miss Piggy from The Muppet Show, was also getting on my nerves. So it didn't get any better.

I know the psychological aspect is there, but unfortunately it didn't work that way for me. Apparently I expect different things from such a thriller, I can't really call it horror. It feels too amateurish to be interesting, the acting is nothing to write home about and the atmosphere is not strong enough to save the film.

It gets a little better towards the end, but still not an edge-of-your-seat affair.

Not bad but certainly not good either, a nice element is missed, especially the very unsympathetic atmosphere does not do the film any good, let alone the ridiculous ending...

The grisly poster raised high expectations, but it was clear relatively quickly that director Kelly Smith's film project had little budgetary resources. The chaotically filmed opening and the undecorated backgrounds are ideal examples of this, but fortunately in terms of content, the film offers a number of unexpected plot twists. The characters may be on the annoying side, but I thought all the cast members acted convincingly enough to somewhat disguise that. The whole thing only takes 76 minutes, so it works well as a quick snack. The finale is otherwise fine, but the build-up is a bit drawn out. With more active bloodshed and nicer cinematography it could have been an effective genre piece, but now it is mainly short and concise entertainment.
