The Betty Ford Story plot

The wife of former US President Gerald Ford, Betty, is told at one point that she has breast cancer. The feisty woman overcomes the disease and receives much love and admiration from the American people. But she also discovers that her private life is difficult to keep private. It is therefore difficult for her to hide her other struggle against her addiction to alcohol and prescription drugs. Her fight gave her a lot of sympathy for addicts and eventually she would also establish an addiction clinic, commonly known as the Betty Ford Clinic.
