Signum Laudis plot

In order to raise the morale of the soldiers during World War I, the Signum Laudis decoration, which only officers are eligible for in the Austrian army, is awarded to Corporal Hoferik. After this, however, he completely loses his courage and thereby threatens the lives and ambitions of his superiors. They are now trying to get rid of him.
