Disappointing drama that is too slow and depressing to really become exciting.

Besides the obvious, there is not enough interesting done with the idea of a repeating day. Similar to the film Limitless, the idea offers many more possibilities than getting drunk and breaking in. Because of this, I found the repeating days less and less interesting and the predictable ending makes for an extra disappointment. The excellent acting ensures that it is certainly not a punishment to watch, but cannot bring the film to a sufficient grade.

On repeat

Too bad, but the Groundhog Day principle that the film uses doesn't quite work here. The film lacks creativity and never really wants to become exciting. It goes as you expect it to go and never comes up with any surprises. The way in which a group of young people end up in a time loop and therefore experience the same day over and over again also comes across as thoughtless and uninspired. The underlying idea why it happens quickly becomes clear but is so needlessly chewed over and bland that it didn't work for me. The main actors do fulfill their roles well, but it's not a good sign if you wonder what the hell you were watching afterwards. The film never really gets bad, but you're not doing yourself a favor with it either.

Continuing "loop" in which remorse, apology, acceptance and forgiveness play the leading role. The choice between good and evil, results in the fate for the rest of life. Surprising Canadian film, with reasonable acting. 2.7*
