Nice film, in the genre of romantic comedy, but without a striking propagandistic message, or it could be this one: even if it is war, life can still be fun and couples in love are timeless. A 'feel good' film for the German public, who already had a hard time in 1942. Although the war is far away in this film and young people want to have fun.

The story is not that great: a young pilot is on leave and runs into a cute nurse and they clearly like each other. Then the game of attraction and repulsion begins, losing each other and finding each other again, etc. etc. But it does not become old-fashioned. You know how such a movie ends. Although, in the end the pilot has to return to his squadron.

But what makes this film still nice for us today? It is a remarkably modern film. Where in many German films of that time the countryside, 'die Heimat', is always glorified, here the perspective lies with the 'Big City' and how young people have to find their way in it. We see pre-war Berlin in all its glory, with its U-Bahn, the famous 'Zoo', the zoo, recreation and swimming in the Wannsee, eating ice cream and of course flirting between the boys and girls. They are also clearly interested in each other's bodies, in a somewhat clumsy way, like the girl is interested in the origin of the boy's swimming trunks. Could she be secretly wondering what he has there? Because that has always been the case? So also in the Third Reich.
