Ao is the last of the Neanderthals and a great hunter. Every day he fights to survive in the wilderness and to fend off the countless horrifying beasts. One day he meets the beautiful Aki, a Homo Sapiens girl who accepts him for what he is and they fall in love. However, their lives are in grave danger when they meet the Hyena humans, a clan of Homo Sapiens who set out to wipe out Neanderthals.
