Miss Winters, a dancer with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, is asked to secretly transport a prototype magnetic mine to Porto-Rico. She thinks she works for the government, but doesn't understand why. Enemy agents get the plan through a pulp novel written by Kibble, who is also on the ship and also falls for Winters. She then hears about his new book and thinks it is about her. So when they leave the boat, she ignores him, but accidentally the suitcases are switched and he receives the magnetic mine.
