Bedankt & Merci plot

'Thank you and Merci' is a film about five popular cafes in the Belgian Westhoek, the region of Flanders Fields. A folk café is a café that once attracted a lot of people, but where "De Tijd" wreaked havoc. In the customer base, but also in the body and limbs of the owners: Gisèle, Alice, Julien and Lies. The youngest is 75, the oldest 89. They all wait impatiently every morning for their first customer. Lucian no more. When her heart faltered, her cafe had to close. The time and what it wreaks in the bodies and heads of the main characters, that is the theme of this film. The loneliness. Holding it. Lose it nonetheless. The friendship and the humor… Those are the stories. These five cafes, their generations and a piece of unadulterated cultural heritage will disappear anyway. 'Thank you and Merci' freezes the time. And serve it warm...
