Weemoed & Wildernis plot
The island of Tiengemeten was once conquered from the sea and transformed by humans into fertile agricultural land. In the 1990s it was decided to turn Tiengemeten into wild nature again. Making the plans, finding replacement farms for the farmers and financing took ten years. In 2006 the redevelopment of the island started. Asphalt roads were removed, creeks were dug, trees were cleared and new trees were planted, dykes were raised or excavated. Digna Sinke follows the changes in the landscape over a period of thirteen years, while also looking back at the changes in her own life. The final theme of the film is temporality and transience.
