Won't Write Home Mom, I'm Dead plot

American Abby comes to a hippie commune in England in search of her boyfriend Doug. There they claim that he has never been there. Abby nervously confesses that she has a psychic link to Doug and that he sent her a telepathic message. The commune members think the whole idea is ridiculous, but let her stay and wait for Doug. While staying at their cottage, Abby keeps hearing Doug's disembodied voice and seeing images of him surrounded by flames. Abby is convinced that something has happened to Doug and that the recurring image of five elm trees holds the key to his fate.
