Someone at the Top of the Stairs plot

College students Chrissie and Gillian rent rooms in an old Victorian mansion. At first they are happy with their nice room and the low rent, but soon the strange behavior of their fellow tenants begins to frighten them. For example, they never leave the house. Against their better judgement, they investigate the strange goings-on in the house, the center of which seems to be in the attic.
