Otouto plot

In 1926, a father (Masayuki Mori) and stepmother (Kinuyo Tanaka) are not the ideal couple to raise children. So, the troublesome Hekiro (Hiroshi Kawaguchi) has to be raised by his older sister Kichi (Keiko Kishi), who, despite all his tricks, continues to feel a warm friendship for him. The troubled, divided family reunites when Hekiro is diagnosed with tuberculosis.
