Rise Up plot

"On an island where reggae is considered the voice of the people and an outlet for survival, Rise Up Reggae Star follows three aspiring artists who seek to 'rise up' from obscurity for their chance at success."

This documentary shows the reggae-infused Jamaican society in which many underprivileged young people try to escape the ghetto with a career in music. Talent alone, it turns out, will get you nowhere. And besides, you have to be careful in the big bad outside world where, according to the star-to-be Turbulence, you will have to deal with 'damagers' and 'reducers' instead of 'managers' and 'producers'.
