Johnny Slade's Greatest Hits plot

"A little talent... can be a dangerous thing"

Johnny Slade is an unsatisfactory lounge singer. But luck smiles upon him when he is recruited into a hip new club. He is unaware that the club is owned by a former mob boss, Mr. Samantha, who is in hiding. Johnny is getting more and more popular. But he begins to see a strange connection between the songs he sings and the crime stories that appear in the newspaper the next morning. Every time he has sung, a new crime is committed. Johnny begins to realize that his songwriter employer is a powerful mob boss who can only give orders to his gang through his songs.
