Maja Nyblom is 94 and has been running the Palace Hotel in the Swedish town of Hultsfred for decades. Fifteen years ago, her husband passed away and she's been doing it all alone ever since, from taking reservations, preparing breakfast and making the beds, to cleaning and maintaining the house. She regularly has to deal with project developers who target her hotel, children who want their mother to take it easy and minor health ailments, but Maja does not want to give up. Her hotel is her life. Especially during the annual Hultsfred Rock Festival. Then the hotel is packed and Maja is guaranteed to go crazy. That's what she does it for, and also for that one guy from Stockholm who makes Maja's heart beat a little faster every time he comes to stay with her for his annual vacation. He always gets the best room: the 14. As long as he comes, there is no question that she would close the hotel. Palace Hotel is a film about life and death, love and desire and the belief that it is never too late.
