During World War II, US Secret Service officer Lieutenant William "Bill" Gordon makes a mistake by revealing to his new girlfriend Elaine Carter that he expects secret codes about the Nazis. Because Elaine thinks Bill has a dangerous job and wants to keep him near her, she arranges for him to be transferred through her uncle John Carter, who is a secretary in the United States Navy. Despite Elaine's good intentions, Bill continues to unravel a Nazi spy network.
