Ahiru to Kamo no Koinrokkâ plot
Shiina leaves his shoemaker family to study in Sendai. Immediately upon arrival, he meets his neighbor, who introduces himself as Kawasaki. Anxious and over-polite Shiina finds it difficult at first to get along with this brisk, older student, whom he shouldn't call "sir." Kawasaki proposes to rob a bookshop in order to gift their mutual Bhutanese neighbor a dictionary so he can learn Japanese. From that moment on, it is not Shiina's new study that is his main occupation, but the world of Kawasaki, in which Bob Dylan, the fate of tortured pets and that of foreign students in Japan converge.
