While playing a round of golf with his good friend Dr. Thomas, Bobby Jones discovers the body of a man who has apparently fallen from a rock. The last words the mortally wounded man can utter are, "Why didn't they ask Evans?". Bobby and his girlfriend Lady Frances Derwent are then drawn into a spiral of mysterious things and falsehoods. Because who is Evans and what should they have asked him or her?
