Marko and his younger partner Ray Brighton search for an abandoned gold mine, which they eventually find. With no intention of sharing the mine's proceeds with his partner, Marko devises a complex plan to get rid of Ray. Shooting Ray and burying Ray in the desert would have marked Marko as the culprit too soon, so he marries young Peggy first. Ray, Peggy and Marko spend the winter together in an abandoned cabin and Marko hopes that he can catch Ray and Peggy cheating and legitimately kill Ray.
