In her anger at the king, the Witch of Darkness casts a curse on his daughter: she will marry a poor shoemaker. Years later it seems that the curse is coming true, but the shoemaker turns out to be a charming boy, whom the princess immediately falls in love with. Now the witch must try to keep the two apart at all costs.
