Mariken van Nieumeghen plot
Mariken is a simple farm girl from the countryside. She moves to her aunt in the city of Nijmegen. Along the way, she meets a couple of comedians. Mariken's aunt appears to have hanged herself. Horrified and desperate, Mariken wanders through Nijmegen at night. She quickly succumbs to the proposal of one of the comedians to go with him to Antwerp. She spends seven years with him in a motley and sinful life.

After the famous medieval story. Hard to follow, but that's how I remember it from high school at the time. Probably about the wickedness of man and the wrath of God. But there is always forgiveness.
