Misty mystery.

There's a creepy, incestuous edge to this horror film. It adds to the strange mystery, which nevertheless seems easily solved. However, the final outcome will be considered too obvious by many viewers. In short, predictability reigns supreme, or is it? Yet, this forgotten film still manages to entertain. Thanks in part to solid filmmaking, an atmospheric and misty setting, and strong performances by the cast, led by a strong Locke.

Good.

A decent thriller.

This was Mary Ure's last film. Shortly before her death in 1975, she appeared in a few TV series. The age difference between Mary Ure and Sondra Locke wasn't that great. Ure was only 11 years older than Locke.

The film was partly inspired by Psycho (1960). This made the ending rather predictable for me. Still, it leaves an entertaining, dark, and mysterious atmosphere for fans.

2.5 *

Sondra Locke gives a convincing performance as a traumatized young girl struggling to cope with her feelings and caught in a web of bizarre events. Robert Shaw plays her father, who manages to be quirky and strange. Sally Kellerman plays his fiancée and is perhaps the most open-minded of all the characters, sensing from the very beginning that something is amiss in the house and with the family. Not particularly exciting, but certainly enjoyable to watch thanks to Locke's strong performance. The ending has a surprise in store for the viewer and gives the film a chilling feel. 6/10
