La Nuit, Tous les Chats Sont Gris plot

Charles Watson likes to tell stories to his cousin Lily, to give her some distraction. For this, he creates a mysterious character, Philibert, and tells her the story of his countless adventures. His hero travels to the Côte d'Azur, and then to Switzerland. At one point he is suspected of murdering a woman. Charles makes sure the police don't find him. However, in the course of the story Philibert begins to become a flesh and blood human being before Lily's eyes. Finally, the girl sees him again in Salzburg and goes to visit him in his hotel room. The narrator begins to realize that things are getting out of hand.
