The Van Dykes are a spoiled, wealthy high society that is constantly in trouble with the law, much to the chagrin of Patriarch Dan van Dyke. When he suddenly has to go to prison himself, he befriends criminal Joe "Spots" Ricardi. When Van Dyke dies, he is given responsibility for the Van Dyke assets, out of revenge, and thus ends up unaccustomed to the wealthy circles. This of course against the sore leg of the family and his ex-gang.
